Hello & Happy official Holiday Season! Woohoo!

I read a few books this month but my favorite by far was Beautiful Day by Elin Hilderbrand. She never disappoints. I probably loved this book so much because it was based on a Wedding! :) The premise was an interesting one. It was about a deceased mother who had planned a wedding for her daughter (before she was engaged) to the very last detail. Now the wedding is upon us and there are twists and turns, but it is filled with a beautiful love story, strong family bonds and as the book is named, a beautiful day.

My favorite line: “But my family begins and ends with your father, Douglas Carmichael, who has sustained me for thirty five years with his devotion and infinite kindness. He did two things for me every single day of our marriage: he made me laugh and he was my friend. How lucky, how very lucky, I have been."

As for the DIY, loved loved this one! I was inspired by a signature lemon sugar massage I get at a spa in Montclair and went searching for my own recipe.

I adapted this recipe from a few different sites I found but ended up with the below.

Brown Sugar Scrub

Mix all the below ingredients together:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup regular white sugar
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil (you can use olive oil if that’s what you have in the house)
  • 1 tablespoon Almond skin care oil (I found this at Kings)*this is optional but I thought would add a nice something extra*

As for the jar, I found these pint wide mouth mason jars which were perfect. I added some decorative paper on the lid and added some bakers twine around the jar. These could make a sweet little Christmas gift!
