Hello Friends! (ironically the theme of the month!)

I touched a bit on Friendships last month but this month I focused a lot of time and energy into maintaining and strengthening my friendships. Below are a few things I focused on:

Remember Birthdays:

For the past 10 years my group of Friends has remained fairly consistent. I always knew when I could plan on seeing my various groups of friends based on the way everyone’s birthday’s fell. The year kicks off in February and goes straight through to December. June happens to be a big birthday month so I thought it would be perfect to start there. As far as gifts, I tried to think more creatively than a bottle wine. I wanted to gift to be thoughtful and useful. I also started compiling a birthday list of all the important people in my life with their birthday and address. Moving forward I’m going to send out actual cards! That’s right, not just a text message but a
real card with a stamp and all :)

Be generous:

Being generous doesn’t necessarily need to equal spending money but also it can be about being emotionally generous. I’d like to believe that I always tend to be generous but I really tried this month to always think of ways I could go out of my way for my friends. Whether it be an extra text messages during the day, little token to show I appreciate them or just simply giving them some space.

Make New Friends:

You can never have too many friends right? There have been points in my life where I didn’t always believe that. But the truth is, everyone you meet in life is different and brings a little something extra to the world and to your perspective of the world. You’re never too old to learn something new or a different way to see things. So when the opportunity to sub for a softball team presented itself I said Yes! And you know what, all the players on the team were absolutely lovely!

To sum up this month, it was very much full of feeling fulfilled and happy.

“Sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing. There is a time for silence. A time to let go and allow people to hurl themselves into their own destiny. And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it’s all over”. – Octavia Butler
