For the month of October I focused on my attitude. One of my all time favorite quotes is “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it”. That has always struck me as being very significant.

I had some great things to look forward to in October so it made keeping my resolutions very simple! I spent a fantastic fall day with my family in New York, My nephew’s Christening and Chris’s sister got Married!

  • Smile More-As simple as that sounds, sometimes you forget to take a moment to smile at a stranger and wish them a good day.
  • Laugh More-This was actually the easiest thing for me to keep, Most of the time I don’t know what’s going on so I usually just laugh at everyone’s jokes :)
  • Stop Being so Critical: This was the hardest one to keep. It’s so easy to criticize other people, other situations, basically anything but all you’re really doing when you criticize is taking the attention away from your own unhapiness. So this is a big thing I worked on, and intent to keep working on.
  • Take Time to be pleasant: I like to think I’m a fairly pleasant person, but I tried to take it one step further and always have a nice calm voice even if I wanted to scream.

This was a great month of enjoying the fall, being with family and friends and of course smiling!

I’ll leave you with another one of my favorite quotes:

"I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition."
