Lavender & Lights

I remember the October night that I met Alison & Casey in 2012. Our personalities clicked right away and by the time we were finished there was so much excitement revolved around planning their unique wedding that you could almost feel it at The Brass Rail in Hoboken. The months that followed were filled with fun planning meetings, narrowing down details such as corn hole boards for their guests to enjoy, the gorgeous flowers that were chosen, the overall vibe & the after party!Jackie & I had suc... read more.

June's Book & DIY Project

It's that time again! This month I really enjoyed both my book & DIY project! (along with some pool time) :)This month's book was Sophie Kinsella's newest Wedding Night. Over the past 10 years I've read every book by Sophie Kinsella including all her books written under her first name, Madeleine Wickham. A few of my favorites by her are Remember Me & Twenties Girl.Wedding Night did not dissapoint. It told the story from two sister's point of view which was a nice change from her other books. NYC Skylines & Blue Delphiniums

The first time I saw Rachel on her Wedding day, she was halfway up the church stairs waiting patiently to walk down the isle with a relaxed smile on her face. Throughout the night, Rachel and Nate took the time to appreciate each moment. From listening to toasts from their loved ones, dancing to their first song "So Small" by Carrie Underwood, to enjoying every last bite of the fabulous food at The Chart House. I have no doubt that this Hoboken pair has many many wonderful years ahead of them! The Wedding Da... read more.

May's Book & DIY

May was certainly a busy month for us! We had three weddings and were preparing for our stylized shoot. That didn't stop me from finishing my book & DIY!This month's book was Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman. It was a change from my usual chick lit taste but I really enjoyed it. It followed the life of a 12 year old girl through the hardest summer of her life. By the time you finish the book, you'll want to tend to your garden, eat Oletta's chocolate cream pie and have an appreciation for what so... read more.

Granny's Simple Pleasures

By Something Social, Posted in Life

As many of you know, the Stephen's family lost a beloved member of our family last month. Evelyn Stephens was not our Grandmother, she was our Granny. As our family sorted through memories, photographs and heartache, I wanted to share with you the simple pleasures that made Granny so happy each day.The first is cinnamon sugar toast. For any of the grandchildren that used to have sleepovers with Granny, they were familiar with this. We used to sit and wait impatiently while she put the bread in the toaster,... read more.

April's Book & DIY

This month I decided to do something a little different. I wanted to tie in both the book & the DIY project. If you're a Jane Green fan like myself you will love April's Book. Her newest book is titled Family Pictures. It's an interesting story of how two women's lives are forever linked by the same man. It's a perfect example of how experience's in life are never black and white, there are always many shades of grey. Through obstacles you may discover unexpected friendships. Here's one of my favorite li... read more.

March’s Book & DIY Project

Time for Book & DIY!This months’ book was great and I flew through it! I read Spin by Catherine McKenzie. I stumbled upon this book through the recommended books on Amazon. This was her debut novel and there’s nowhere better to start than at the beginning. The leading lady in this book is a writer and goes into a drug/alcohol rehab to follow a cover story and ends up learning a lot about herself in the process. It’s funny, easy to follow and is sprinkled with the character’s favo... read more.

February’s Book & DIY Project

As some of you may know my New Year’s resolution was to read a new book and venture into a new craft project each month and share my findings with you!February’s book was Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah. This was an excellent book that followed the lives of two best friends Tully and Kate for over thirty years. Kristin Hannah’s writing style doesn’t make you relate to the main character but rather makes you feel as if you are the main character. You feel what they feel; you love what... read more.
